My route into teaching has been anything but straightforward, and that’s very much shaped the way I work today. After studying German and Russian at the University of Edinburgh, I began my career in community development in Mombasa, Kenya, before moving into language teaching and completing my PGCE at UCL’s Institute of Education and a CELTA at International House London.
Over the past 15 years, I’ve taught languages in a wide range of settings, both in the UK and internationally, including Russia, Ukraine, Zanzibar and Kenya. Working with students from different backgrounds has taught me the importance of flexibility, clear communication, and keeping things practical and relevant.
I specialise in German, French, Russian and English as an Additional Language (EAL), and I aim to create lessons that are structured, supportive and genuinely engaging—focused on building confidence as well as results.
Since returning to the UK, I’ve worked as Head of Modern Foreign Languages in a secondary school and taught in a range of settings. I now divide my time between teaching, creating and sharing resources, and supporting new teachers as a Lead Facilitator on the Early Career Framework, a government-funded programme for teachers at the start of their careers.
That’s a little about me and my approach! So whether you’re a student looking to learn a language, or a teacher with questions about my courses and resources, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
